The British-American Business Council Houston would like to congratulate the winners of our 2014 International Business Awards presented at the 5th Annual Awards Luncheon last week at the Royal Sonesta Hotel.
Two hundred members and guests were on hand for the much anticipated announcement. The Winner in the Small to Mid-Sized Business catergory was Houlder Americas. The award was accepted by Garry Kennie. In the Large Corporate category the winner was Pentagon Freight Services. George Booth accepted the award for the company.
The BABC awards programme was started in 2010 to recognize companies excelling in trans-Atlantic business between the Texas and the UK. The UK is the largest foreign direct investor in the Texas economy and is also the largest foreign employer. The two economies enjoy 10b in trade annualy. The awards are given based on percentage of year-to -year revenue growth, percentage of year-to-year emplyment growth and annual capital expenditure.
BP was honored as the recipient of the annual BABC Consul General Award for philanthropy. The award was accepted by Craig Marshall. BP's dedication and commitment to STEM education was highlighted. They have invested $45m on STEM programmes in the last two years alone. The CG Award is given annually to a company exemplifying commitment to the community in both the UK and US.
Becci Himes, BABC Executive Director, was also recognized for 10 years of service to the organization with a presentation from Bulgari.
Runners up in the Small to Mid-Sized Business category were JP Valves and Progressive GE. In the Large Corporate category runners up were Oceaneering and Clarkson Shipping.
